Chamard Vineyards, Clinton, CT - A beautiful vineyard nestled on the Connecticut shoreline and part of the CT wine trail is a must visit if you find yourself on the CT coast.
I have a mix of ancestry in my roots. Some of which comes from France. I think it comes to life within me when I spend time at Chamard Vineyards - a farm, winery and bistro. Although it's located in Clinton, CT, somehow I feel like I'm on a vacation in France when I'm there. The beautiful grounds with stone walls and picnic tables shaded with trees makes me want to linger. The rustic barn that holds afternoon live music and intimate weddings feels inviting to everyone.
They have an intimate French inspired bistro. They believe in farm-to-table cuisine and a locally sourced fresh and seasonal menu. Assortiments de Fromage, Pommes Frites sprinkled with rosemary salt, and Parisian Gnocchi are some of my personal favorites from the menu. Hand crafted, award winning wines have graced the tables at many celebrations on site and patrons homes. Their vines are carefully tended by hand in the European tradition, yielding superior Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir fruit.
If you are lucky enough to have Carrianne help you, your visit will be extra special. She is what makes it feel like home when you are there. She is incredibly knowledgeable, has the kindest soul and is the utmost professional. I hope you soon find time to discover this gem. Time to sit on the deck and look at the sweeping views of the vineyard as the sun sets; take a stroll through the vines with a glass of wine in hand or find your own picnic spot on the lawn with your pup and some appetizers from the bar.
