Sunshine in a smoothie

Drink in the sunshine with this refreshing smoothie! It will energize your morning or help you recover from a workout. It is tropically sweet with a spicy kick of fresh Ginger.




Smoothies are my addiction. I incorporate a smoothie into my menu most days. I find that I am more hydrated and more apt to eat fruits and veggies that I wouldn't otherwise work into my diet. The trick is to keep it healthy. The recipes are unlimited, but here is one of my favorites.

Start your day off with a powerhouse refresher

Not only is this recipe delicious, but it also offers multiple health properties. Pineapple is rich in vitamin C and aids in healthy digestion. Ginger has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and is known for its medicinal properties. The coconut water works at restoring hydration and electrolytes after a workout. I hope you enjoy it!


Pineapple-Ginger Smoothie

Ingredients:


1/2 cup of coconut water (add more, if needed)

1 cup of frozen unsweetened diced pineapple

1/2 peeled orange

1/2 of a frozen ripened banana (peeled)

2 Tablespoons of fresh lemon juice

1/2 inch slice of fresh ginger (peeled and chopped)


Instructions:


Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth. Serve immediately and enjoy!
